Professional experience
International Monetary Fund and Bangladesh Bank
International Monetary Fund
Resident Representative Office · Dhaka, Bangladesh
As the office’s local economist, I monitored the real, fiscal, external, monetary, and financial sectors of the Bangladesh economy, contributed macroeconomic framework projections and analysis to the IMF’s surveillance, and produced the monthly Bangladesh Economic and Financial Indicators for the IMF’s Bangladesh website. I took part in staff visits and the 2017, 2018, and 2019 Article IV consultations and contributed to the staff reports, to the 2020 emergency financing request, and to the Fund’s policy papers on Bangladesh.
Selected publications and contributions to IMF country reports are listed on the research page.
Bangladesh Bank
The central bank of Bangladesh · Dhaka
I supported the Governor in formulating and implementing monetary and financial policies: following the central bank’s day-to-day liquidity management operations, providing regular updates on macroeconomic and financial-sector developments, preparing analysis for the Governor’s keynote papers, speeches, and presentations, and monitoring the monetary survey. I also contributed analysis on macroeconomic prospects to the Bangladesh Bank Annual Report.
From January 2017 I was on leave from Bangladesh Bank, first to work at the IMF and then, from August 2021, for doctoral studies. During study leave I was promoted to Additional Director (Research) in May 2022. I left Bangladesh Bank in July 2026.
Training, scholarships, and the full academic record are in my curriculum vitae.
